Hispanics are currently America’s largest minority group, accounting for more than half (50.5%) of the overall population growth since 2000. Today, 45.4 million Hispanics live in the United States and constitute 15.1% of the total U.S. population. One 2006 estimate has put Memphis’ Hispanic population between 260,000 and 300,000 people (not including undocumented residents).

To cater to the booming Latino market, the mall will feature a Hispanic wing with products and services tailored specifically to Hispanic customers. Hispanic community services, businesses, office space, and a church or gathering place, will address the following needs: state and local immigration needs, voting rights, driver’s license, tax reform, Latino credit card use, home ownership, social security reform, retirement security, financial services (counseling, planning), Hispanic childhood and adult education, bilingual (language) training, healthcare, and integration of immigrants into American life.
